00:00
friend Riley. We met in Washington, D.C., did we, at the White House vigil? I don't

00:12
remember. But you have been such a nice companion on Facebook. I think you're much younger than

00:22
I, much younger than I, as I recall. And I want to share this with you. You, if I know

00:34
20 people with a really good heart, beyond any two-year-olds, and then we kill their

00:46
hearts. If I know any people your age or older with really good hearts, I want to share this

00:52
with you. If I know any two-year-olds, and then we kill their hearts, if I know any people

00:52
hearts you're one of them I'm quite sure no credit to you or get credit to anyone

01:02
else active environment it certainly is in my case I have a good heart no credit

01:11
to me and you can tell you have a good heart because you don't a good heart

01:19
can't shut out the pain of others it doesn't wallow in it it never wallows in it because it

01:31
becomes debilitated by that and can't serve those same suffering hearts or others

01:39
but just as a skilled surgeon does not close her eyes

01:49
though she might like to to avoid seeing the carnage she doesn't and the good heart

01:58
doesn't close their eyes doesn't close itself off for the good for the same reason

02:06
and I'm sharing this with you because

02:10
judging from my own personal experience

02:15
where as I say I have a good heart

02:19
things have gotten well they haven't gotten worse

02:24
in the world we're able to see more and more how bad it's always been we with good hearts

02:33
we with alive hearts it can become self-destructive remain of a good seeing heart

02:46
unless we gain

02:48
the strength and skills

02:52
to deal with it

02:55
constructively and I can tell you

03:01
in hindsight really the reason my soul has been dragging me

03:07
for my whole life but intensely these last three years into serious discipleship of the man Jesus

03:16
is because

03:18
he was the brilliant

03:22
scientist almost

03:26
that figured out

03:29
the competencies the way of understanding the world a way of understanding the world

03:37
it really doesn't matter whether it corresponds it really doesn't matter whether it is a objective

03:47
reality

03:47
any more than it matters if math one plus one equals two is an objective reality

03:59
it is aligned with reality lets us understand it let's just deal with it

04:07
and for two reasons I share this with you

04:13
I think it's likely that

04:15
that the pain of your heart will either carry you apart or force you to

04:27
anesthetize and

04:31
disable your heart

04:37
and there will be unnecessary unmanageable pain either way

04:43
unless you do what I've done

04:46
which is to put myself

04:50
into serious discipleship

04:53
of the man Jesus right there in the gospel

04:58
and my purpose isn't to avoid my pain my purpose is to help others deal with theirs

05:08
and to transcend that pain though it's still there into a joyful abundant life

05:15
and even this morning I awaken with just an unexpected amazement astonishment

05:29
of the brilliance of the man Jesus his writings right there in the gospel his example right there

05:36
in the gospel absolute amazement the way one would be amazed that an impossibly beautiful

05:45
or an impossibly beautiful masterwork of art he is the way the truth and the life

05:54
not because anyone foretold him not because he filled fulfilled some prophecy

06:01
just because he is he he was the gift to us that

06:08
souls that are still alive humanity that is still alive in adults like I think it is in you

06:16
we need it if we had been born and raised around people like jesus in an incredibly healthy

06:25
community we wouldn't need it because we wouldn't have left behind what we have almost all left

06:34
behind our humanity from our childhood but we've been ripped away from us

06:39
and he wasn't or if he was he he got back to it quickly and embodied it ragingly

06:50
and well you know what's her name simone biles apparently i i get in the idea that she has a

07:01
dna given physique that equips her

07:04
gives her advantages that many

07:09
jim this don't have most people don't have but maybe she also was given a

07:21
genius

07:24
for gymnastics for physical motion through space

07:32
but she certainly is that

07:36
jesus was that

07:39
as it relates to returning ourselves from these horrible

07:47
cultures man-made cultures

07:53
to our rightful place in god's kingdom i'm out in beautiful fields right now

08:01
that's part of god's kingdom our cities are created to displace god's kingdom

08:09
almost everything man-made is

08:14
but most importantly the kingdom within us which we were born into as a child and then we were

08:22
ripped from by our insane cultures thinking they were doing good so i have to share this with you

08:32
and you totally get to ignore it but thank goodness you're here to share this with us

08:38
Thank goodness you're in the world with us.

08:41
Thank goodness for us.

08:42
If I'm correct, much of your humanity has not been destroyed yet.

08:49
But it's going to get so much worse, so much faster, so much more obviously,

08:56
that unless someone like you gains incredible mastery and competence,

09:07
at maintaining your humanity in impossibly evil, inhumane world,

09:14
you'll lose it or we'll lose you.

09:18
And maybe I'm wrong.

09:20
But that's what I think and that's what I have to share with you.
